The registration process is a multi-step event for students. Students should review the information and talk with parents, guardians, and teachers as they fill out their registration form. Students should bring their completed registration form with them when they meet with their registration advisor during their pre-scheduled meeting (these appointment times will be given out during homeroom on Thursday, February. 16, 2023)
When students arrive for their registration appointment, they should have the following items:
Students are encouraged to take this process seriously. The course selections students make during
this process will be used to build the master schedule. Please remember that every attempt to fill
course requests will be made. However, due to class size and budget restrictions it may be necessary
to use alternate courses. Please be aware that we will not make schedule changes by request this year. It is imperative that you are very thoughtful about the courses for which you register. The courses you register for will be the courses you will take. In the event that the courses you register for are full or not offered, we will contact you to find a suitable substitution. If we cannot contact you based on the information we have in PowerSchool, you may be placed in a course that fits in your schedule. It is your responsibility to make sure your contact information is correct in PowerSchool before you leave for the summer. We base our master schedule and the number of sections of each class on the number of students who register for classes. Schedule changes result in unbalanced classes with too many or too few students. For this reason, we encourage you to discuss your options carefully with parents, teachers, counselors, career coaches, and other adults to assist with making decisions about the courses best suited for your post-high school plans. Please take this process very seriously and make mindful decisions about course requests. Students are encouraged to factor in their personal time management skills when selecting courses. Consider the level of work and amount of time for honors and AP Courses and match that with any extra-curricular activities to avoid being overextended.
Below is a resource that may help you decide what electives to choose for registration. Take this interest inventory through NC Careers (long version recommended). If you create an account it will save your results.
