Student Art Competition

Students across the county in grades k – 12 are invited to enter the annual Student Art Competition, sponsored by the Cleveland County Arts Council and in partnership with the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Shelby Alumnae. Students must be a resident of Cleveland County to enter the competition.

Artwork should be delivered to the Arts Council April 16 or 17, between the hours of 9:00 am and 5:00 pm. The exhibit will open with a reception to honor all participants and their teachers on Thursday, April 23, from6:30 – 7:30 pm, at the Arts Center, 111 S. Washington St., Shelby. The reception is free and open to the public. Middle school students compete in six categories: painting, drawing, mixed media, print making, three dimensional and upcycled/recycled art; high school students compete in the same categories with the addition of photography and new media art. All types of media are acceptable for elementary students. Cash prizes totaling $1,235 will be awarded to the winners.
